The squeak and sattle test of an automotive seat is a neat example. The seat is mounted on an oscillating platform and is excited using a sine sweep. Immediately following the measurement, the critical areas are selected from the time signal and analysed.

This enables you to determine all problem areas in just one single sweep. Using the classical method "listen, fix the location found, run new sweep etc.", takes far longer.
